Symptom

  • Customer is trying to monitor SAP ASE database and receives in SM21 the following error:

[ASE Error SQL589][SAP][ASE ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]Invalid role string received.
This might be due to a missing role that is expected on the monitored Sybase ASE database.

  • This situation should be analysed together with the scenario of Sybase ASE monitoring through DBACOCKPIT in SAP Solution Manager.
