Symptom

The search results link may disappear after editing a record

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

There are several ways to see this issue with different types of records, such as users or items. This is just one example of editing an item to inactivate it:

  1. Run a search for items
  2. Select an item to edit
  3. At the top of the item record there will be a link to go back to the search results
  4. Edit the item and choose to make it inactive
  5. Now the search results button will no longer appear

Resolution

  • This is expected behaviour
  • For some changes the snapshot of search results will no longer be valid
  • The link is removed because if it was there it would return unexpected results once one of the records is fundamentally changed
