2363297 - Recording With Same Start and End Time and Same Date Leads to a 24 Hours Recording

Symptom

For Time Recordings with same Start / End Time and same Start / End Date, the system calculates 24 hours instead of 0 hours as visible in the Time File of the affected employee. This occurs whether the time is automatically recorded or manually entered.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

1. Go to Time Administration work center.
2. Select Employees view.
3. Select an Employee and click Edit button.
4. Go to Employee Times tab.
5. Add Row and enter any Time Type.
6. Enter same Start / End Time and same Start / End Date (For example: Time as 10:00/10:00 and Date as 01.08.2023/ 01.08.2023)
7. Select Save.
8. You see Quantity as 24 Hour(s)

Cause

SAP Business ByDesign expects valid times to be created and does not expect to receive zero time recordings. Therefore the system is designed to span at least a day boundary if the Start Time is after or equal to the End Time.

Resolution

The system is behaving as expected. In case time punches happened by mistake, they need to be removed before being sent to SAP Business ByDesign.
