2368083 - OSQL call failed for MSSUPGGETREL - MAIN_SHDRUN/START_SHDI_FIRST

Symptom

During a SAP Upgrade, in phase MAIN_SHDRUN/START_SHDI_FIRST, SUM stops with the following error:


1EETQ399 Calling registered function with pattern 'START_SHDI_FIRST' failed!
1EETQ399 Last error code set is: OSQL call failed for MSSUPGGETREL

The MSSUPGGETREL.OUT file in the ...SUM\abap\tmp directory contains in the last rows the following or similar:


... 
EXECUTING C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\sqlcmd.exe -S SPR3DBTPD01\SPR3DBTPD01 -E -d SID -i D:\usr\sap\SID\SUM\abap\bin\MSSUPGGETREL.SQL -o D:\usr\sap\SID\SUM\abap\log\MSSUPGGETREL.LOG -h-1
SAPup> Process with PID 6568 terminated with status -1073741515 at 20160915123314!

However the MS native client is installed well and the sqlcmd can be started from command line.
