Symptom

In SAP Replication Server (SRS), attempting to issue the 'alter subscription move replicate' command returns the following errors:

in the console:

Msg 28186, Level 12, State 0:
Server 'REPSERVER1':
Error applying command at the primary Replication Server for subscription <table_sub> for replication definition <table_rd> with replicate at <DATASERVER.DATABASE>

in the SRS log:

ERROR #28186 USER(sa) - eneric/sub/sub_gen.c(2205)
        Error applying command at the primary Replication Server for subscription <table_sub> for replication definition <table_rd> with replicate at <DATASERVER.DATABASE>
ERROR #1028 USER(sa) - eneric/sub/sub_gen.c(2205)
        Message from server: Message: 15096, State 0, Severity 12 -- 'Connection to DATASERVER.DATABASE_alt1 doesn't exist.'.
