Symptom

Error messages running a Kerbeors authentication connection to ASE:

  • client side message
    Msg 4053, Level 14, State 1:
    Server 'servername':
    Security session setup failed during security session establishment.
    CT-LIBRARY error:
          ct_connect(): protocol specific layer: external error: The attempt to connect to the server failed.
  • ASE log messages:
    kernel  Connectivity Library (Security Control Layer) Error: Consistency checks performed on the credential failed (minor status 0).
    server  SCL error in function: sec_get_cred. Operation: sec_cred_acquire().
    server  SCL error in function: sec_setup. Operation: sec_get_cred().
    kernel  Connectivity Library (Security Control Layer) Error: Consistency checks performed on the credential failed (minor status 0).
