Symptom
You noticed the wrong distribution channel is determined in your Sales Quote.
Environment
SAP Sales Cloud
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Sales work center.
- Select the Sales Quotes view.
- Select New.
- Enter all mandatory data and save the new created quote.
- The Distribution Channel is not the one expected.
Cause
The distribution channel in the transactional document is always derived from the Sales Unit and not from the Sales Org. In case the distribution channel is not maintained on the Sales Unit level, the system will then check the Sales Data of the Account if and only if this specifc rule is activated for the Sales Unit in fine tuning. If this rule is not activated, system will consider the Distribution Channel that is maintained on the first line maintained on the Distribution Channel Activity on Fine Tuning.
Resolution
You have the to possilibty to:
1- Maintain the distribution channel on the sales unit level in the org management
2- Activate the rule to determine the Sales Unit from the "Account sales data" for the Sales Unit (Go to Sales Quotes Fine tuning Activities > Involved Parties > Sales Unit > Maintain Determination > Account Sales Data). The distribution channel can then be added in the Sales Data for each Sales Unit.
