Symptom

As described in the SAP Business Intelligence Platform 4.x Administrator's Guides > Auditing section, Central Management Servers operate as system auditors.  Auditors are responsible for communicating with auditees -- servers / components which initially record the audit information -- and collecting those records and then writing them to the Audit database.

A high-level description of the auditing process follows:

  1. An auditable event is performed by the server [auditee].
  2. The auditee writes events in a temporary file.  Steps 1 and 2 can occur multiple times before step 3.
  3. At regular intervals, the auditor polls the auditee and requests a batch of auditing events.
  4. The auditee retrieves the events from the temporary files.
  5. The auditee transmits the events to the auditor.
  6. The auditor writes events to the ADS [Auditing Data Store, i.e. the Audit database] and signals the auditee to delete the events from the temporary files.
