2375601 - Fiori error: Service <> failed. Contact your system administrator [VIDEO]

Symptom

After clicking on a tile in Fiori Launchpad, the following error occurs:
'Service <> failed. Contact your system administrator.'
Error details:
'Cannot call service with URL: <>'

After testing the URI in Gateway Client, the following error appears in the response and in transaction /n/IWFND/ERROR_LOG:
'RFC Error: The current application has triggered a termination with a short dump.'

Dump (Recursive extension definition) generated during various scenarios involving SAP Gateway (OData) in class /IWBEP/CL_MGW_MED_DBA_ACCESS method GET_EXTENDING_SERVICE:
