Symptom

How to notifiy the territory owner of new accounts in their territory.

Resolution

Once a territory has been derived or added to an account, you would like to set up a notification to inform the territory owner.

You can achieve this requirement by using the workflow rules:

  1. Go to the Administrator work center.
  2. Go to the Workflow rules view.
  3. Create a New worflow rule.
  4. Step 1 : Enter Basic Data
    Description : Add the name of the rule.
    Business Object : Account.
    Timing : On Every Save.
  5. Step 2 : Define Conditions
    Field : Territory[].
    Value Before Object Change : Selected.
    Compare Operator : Not equal to
    With : Field Territory[].
  6. Step 3 : Define Actions
    Rule Type : Notifications.
    Subject : New Account &1 in your Territory (to displaye the name of the account in the notification)
    Place Holder : &1 : Name..
    Recipient Determination : Sales Territory Team Owner.
  7. Step 4 : Review
    Activate

The territory owner will then receive a notification every time an account is added in their territory.
