Symptom

  • Follow-Up Evaluation Analysis report shows discrepancy between number of responses to questions and total respondents
  • Questions show more number of answers than there are total respondents in the report Totals

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning Management System (LMS)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon to LMS Admin
  2. Navigate to Reports
  3. Run the Follow-up Evaluation report for an Item
  4. Note that total number of answers for a question exceeds the total number of respondents
  5. For example:
    • Question 1 shows a total of 2 answers
    • Total Respondents is 1
      • surveyTotals.png

Cause

This is due to the fact that the question in the Questionnaire Survey is set to allow multiple responses

Resolution

  • If users are meant to be able to provide more than one answer to a question, then when 1 Users provides 2 or more Responses to a Question, the number of answers to that question will exceed the total number of Respondents
    • Example:
      1. Sally launches the Follow-up Evaluation
      2. Question 1 allows for multiple answers
      3. Sally selects Answer 1 and Answer 2 for Question 1
      4. Total responses for Question 1 is incremented by 2 (for the 2 answers Sally provided)
      5. Sally is a single respondent, so Total Respondents increments by 1
  • If users should only chose one answer to a question, be sure to setup the question in the Questionnaire survey to only allow One Choice for Question Type:
