2383059 - Enabling Job Profile Builder (JPB)

Symptom

This article provides basic information on how to enable Job Profile Builder (JPB).

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Job Profile Builder

Resolution

Enabling Job Profile Builder

Job Description Manager (JDM) is enabled by default in all environments, and there is no option in Provisioning to disable it per instance. On instances not using JDM - no data ever created for Families and Roles - that would like to enable and start using Job Profile Builder (JPB), there is no pre-work necessary before enabling the feature:

  1. Go to Provisioning > Company Settings;
  2. Enable the option "JDM v2.0/Skills Management";
  3. Save Changes.

Now, for instances using Job Description Manager (JDM) data - pre-existing data for Families and Roles - it is necessary to prepare the JDM data before enabling JPB, and running the migration job in Provisioning.

NOTE: Job Profile Builder can only be enabled and data migrated - if required - via Provisioning. Therefore, to complete this request you need to engage an Implementation Partner, as it cannot be completed by SAP Product Support.

Migration steps in instances with pre-existing JDM data

The JDM data migration is a mandatory step when implementing Job Profile Builder, for instances already using Job Description Manager. Below you can find basic migration steps to follow when implementing JPB:
NOTE: JPB configuration requires the engagement of an Implementation Partner, as most of the actions are taken in Provisioning.

  1. Run Check Tool for Job Description Manager in Admin Center (Check WIKI JDM & JPB Check Tools);
  2. Fix the issues found by the checks, if any;
  3. Enable Job Profile Builder and migrate the JDM data to JPB:
    1. Go to Provisioning > Company Settings;
    2. Enable the option "JDM v2.0/Skills Management", and save changes;
    3. Still in Provisioning > Company Settings, under the option "JDM v2.0/Skills Management", click "Migrate";
    4. Provide an admin user as Job Owner, and run the job;
    5. Now, go to Provisioning > Monitor Jobs, to verify if job completed successfully, by searching for the job type "JDM Old to New Sync".
  4. Run Check Tool for Job Profile Builder in Admin Center to identify possible data sync issues (Check WIKI JDM & JPB Check Tools);
  5. Fix the issues found by the checks, if any.

NOTE: Job Profile Builder can only be enabled and data migrated - if required - via Provisioning. Therefore, to complete this request you need to engage an Implementation Partner, as it cannot be completed by SAP Product Support.
