2383086 - On Termination - Accrual Balance to Remain Unchanged (How To)

Symptom

  • No termination rule is set on the relevant Time Account Type at the time of termination, however a recalculation is still taking place.
  • Client Requirement, is have accrual balance remain unchanged after the termination

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Terminate an employee
  2. The time accrual balance changes

Cause

The system will still perform an Accrual Recalculation automatically in the following scenarios:

● New time profile assignment
● New work schedule assignment
● Change of effective start date in Job Information
● Termination

Resolution

If you want the balance of the employee to remain the same at termination, please assign the standard Accrual Rule as the Termination rule also on the Time Account Type.

Note: The date of when the termination is posted and when the Accrual is run can also have an effect.

Please see the following example:

Example 1)

You terminate employee A today with a termination date February 20, 2017.
Start of 2017 you run an accrual run.
Result: No accrual is created for 2017 as it´s a termination period for that employee.

Example 2)

At the start of 2017 you run an accrual run.
The accrual rule is evaluated for employee B and an accrual of 30 days is created.
On January 15, 2017 you terminate employee B termination date February 20, 2017
Result: A recalculation is triggered and as it´s a termination period now, the accrual quantity is reset.

If we would keep the accrual in example 2, the accrual amount for both employees would differ just because the termination was entered into the system on another date.

Before - The termination rule recalculate time accrued up to the day of termination hence resulting in change after termination

After - because the both the termination and the accrual rule are the same, upon termination, the time accrued will remained unchanged as the rules are the same.
