2383859 - Auto Generated Item IDs in SuccessFactors Learning

Symptom

This KB article explains hos the Auto Generated IDs feature works in SuccessFactors Learning.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Resolution

Auto generated IDs are available for the following learning entities:

  • Item
  • Equipment
  • Instructor
  • User

When enabled for any of the above learning entities, a checkbox will display allowing the learning administrator to select whether or not to manually create the ID or to have the system auto generate it. The available options for auto generated IDs include:

ID Prefix

  • A prefix which will appear before the uniquely generated ID. For example, KAL is used as a prefix for items.
  • When an item is created with an auto generated ID, it will always be populated with KAL then the unique ID, a number created sequentially by the system.

Site Prefix

  • Site prefixes identify a particular instance of the application. This is set in the Global Variables section.
  • When adding a Site Prefix, admins can select the radio button to determine whether the Site ID or the ID Prefix appears first in auto generated IDs. The unique number will always follow after.
