2383965 - Unable to use Deep Links in Microsoft Office/Office 365 documents

Symptom

  • Unable to use Deep Links in Microsoft Office documents in LMS
  • Pasting the link directly into a browser works
  • Clicking on the link within the MS Office document (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) returns user to the Learning Landing Page, or SuccessFactors login instead of launching the expected Class

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Add a deep link into an Outlook, MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint document
  2. The link is a direct link to a Class within the LMS
  3. Clicking the link within a Microsoft document takes you to the Learning Home Page
  4. The expected behavior would be that the Class is launched
  5. This occurs regardless of SSO is used or not for the LMS
  6. Copying and pasting the link directly into a browser works

Cause

This has been determined by Product Engineering to be an issue with Microsoft and not one that SuccessFactors can correct.

Resolution

  • SuccessFactors is unable to correct the behavior.
  • The recommendation is not to use deep links within a MS Office document, or have the user copy and paste the link directly into the browser instead of hyperlinked from the document/outlook.
