2384061 - Display of compounded characteritic keys in Analysis Office

Symptom

The key display for a compounded characteristic does not match your expectation.

Environment

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Start Analysis Office.
  2. Open query or workbook.
  3. Check key display of compounded characteristic in prompt screen, query drilldown and filter by member dialog.

Cause

The following behavior is designed:

In Drilldown:

The non compounded key is displayed if:
The higher-level characteristic is restricted to a single value in the filter of the query.
All involved characteristics are displayed in compounding order in the drilldown of the query.

In Filter by Member Dialog:

 The non compounded key is displayed if the higher-level characteristic is restricted to a single value in the filter of the query.

In Prompt Screen:

 The non compounded key is always displayed.

Resolution

Please find following example:

  • Content DEMO query 0D_FC_NW_C01_Q0001 on infoprovider 0D_NW_C01.
  • The query contains characteristic 0D_NW_REGIO "Region" which is compounded at the higher-level characteristic 0D_NW_CNTRY "Country":
  • Execute this query in Analysis Office.
  • Change the member display to "KEY" for both characteristics.
  • Move characteristic Region from free characteristics into the rows.
  • Remove all other characteristics from the rows.

1 - The full compounded key is displayed in drilldown and filter by member dialog:

  • The full compounded key (0D_NW_CNTRY/0D_NW_REGIO) is displayed in drilldown and filter by member dialog for characteristic "Region" because:
    • ... the higher-level characteristic "Country" is not restricted to a single value in the filter of the query.
    • ... not all involved characteristics are displayed in compounding order in the drill down of the query.

2 - The non compounded key is displayed in drilldown, but the full compounded key in filter by memeber dialog:

  • We move the higher-level characteristic "Country" into the rows.
  • Characteristic "Region" is displayed with non compounded key in drilldown, but with compounded key in filter by member dialog.
  • This happens as both characteristics "Country" and "Region" are displayed in compounding order in the drilldown of the query.

3 - The non compounded key is displayed in drilldown and filter by member dialog:

  • We restrict the higher-level characteristic "Country" to single value "DE".

  • As result the drilldown and filter by member dialog show "Region" with non compounded key:
