2385095 - Error: Failed to start multibuffering subprocesses when dumping database - ASE

Symptom

  • Running the following command to capture a database dump in ASE

dump database <database> to "/opt/backups/db.dump"
go

  • Backup server error log reports the following error:

Backup Server: 2.23.1.1: Connection from Server <Server> on Host <host> with HostProcid <procid>.
Backup Server: 2.23.1.1: Connection from Server <Server> on Host <host> with HostProcid <procid>.
Backup Server: 4.171.1.1: The current value of 'reserved pages threshold' is 85%.
Backup Server: 4.171.1.2: The current value of 'allocated pages threshold' is 40%.
Backup Server: 4.171.1.5: The current value of 'parallel scan' is 2.
Backup Server: 4.41.1.1: Creating new disk file /opt/backups/db.dump.
Backup Server: 4.128.2.1:  Failed to start multibuffering subprocesses for archive device '/opt/backups/db.dump'. Look at the Backup Server error log or standard error for more information.
