2385707 - How to resolve error 10351 'not a valid user in database' - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE returns Error 10351 :Msg 10351, Level 14, State 1 for an user id: 

Server user id # is not a valid user in database '<db_name>' 

  • For SAP Netweaver applications running on ASE, the error may or may not reference user id 4 as not being valid in the sybsecurity database in the System Log and developer trace file:
    ***LOG BY0=> [ASE Error SQL10351][SAP][ASE ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]Server user id 4 is not a valid user in database 'sybsecurity'
