Symptom

Managers (Supervisors) are not able to "Assign Learning" or "Add to Learning History" (Record Learning Event) for some courses in SuccessFactors Learning

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Cause

  • The item has to be in the manager's library (catalog).
  • The item will control if the manager can/cannot add the item history (record the Learning Event) via the 'Managers can Add to Learning History' setting in the item level.
  • Managers need to have required permissions in their assigned role to perform this action.

Resolution

  1. In Learning Administration, Go to the item that you want to modify the behavior.
  2. Under item details, Find the field called "Managers can Add to Learning History"
  3. Change it to YES/NO, depending if you want to allow or deny the action.
  4. If this is set to YES on item level, make sure managers have following permissions in their role under System Administration>Security>Role Management:
    • Access Direct Report to Add External History Records
    • Access Direct Report to Add History Records
