Symptom

  • without statistics optimizer uses OR strategy
  • with ansinull is off, incorrect rows will be returned
  • with ansinull is on, no row will be returned
  • with statistics optimizer uses a plan nested loop
  • with ansinull off, 0 row will be returned
  • with ansinull on, 0 row will be returned
  • special OR plan is chosen for a join under the OR over two nullable columns
  • both columns have null values
