Symptom
A supervisor assigns an item to a subordinate user and sets a Required Date, when the supervisor views the user's learning plan on Team View page, it shows a day later.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- Log in as a manager >
- Go to Learning >
- Navigate to Team View >
- Select "Manage Assignments" from the three dots close to the subordinates' list >
- Assign an item to the user and specify a Required Date (due date) >
- Reload the learning plan for the user in Team View page >
- Note that the due date shows 1 day later (or days past due is off by a day in case of items that are past the required date) >
- The user sees the correct date in his/her learning plan >
- In the Learning Administration view, the date appears correct on the user record > Assigned Items tab.
Cause
- This is caused by the supervisor/manager user having a time zone later than the user's.
- User's required date is stored in the user's time zone.
- Example:
- User is in PST (GMT -8), Supervisor is in EST (GMT -5);
- Supervisor sets Required date to March 15th;
- It is then stored as March 15th, 11:59pm PST;
- For the supervisor, this would be viewed as March 16th 2:59am EST (which is 11:59pm PST).
Resolution
- For the Team View page, there are no options to have the Required Date to be displayed in the supervisor's timezone.
- If the supervisor sets their preferred time zone to that of their subordinates, they will see the expected time.
- For administrators, there is an option to disable the Required Dates to be displayed in the learner's timezone, but it does not change this for the Team View view:
- Log in as an Administrator in Learning Administration >
- Navigate to System Administration >
- System Configuration >
- Open LMS_ADMIN in edit mode >
- Locate the entry for learningPlanDisplayInLearnerTimezone:
- If the option is true then, by default, dates are displayed in the user's preferred time zone.
- If false, it is displayed in the administrator's preferred time zone.
- Default: true.
Note: Due date set in curriculum is stored in database timezone (UTC timezone in general).
