2391005 - Sometimes sybctrl failed to change password of SAPSR3, sapsa and sapsso - SAP ASE for BS

Symptom

  • When trying to change password of SAPSR3, sapsa and sapsso using sybctrl,it sometimes fails with the error message in dev_sybctrl:

    DBSL patch version 420.
    read user/password from secstore
    dbs/syb/user: sapsa
    read password from secstore rc (0)
    Provide old password for database user sapsa.
    Provide new password for database user sapsa.
    Confirm new password for database user sapsa.
    write connect user/password to secstore
    connect user written to SecStore: sapsa
    connect user password written to SecStore rc (0)
    EDbSlModify: rc 99, SQL-error 17240 => [ASE Error SQL17240][SAP][ASE ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Enterprise]'sapsa Çsapsa ' is not a valid name. ERROR: password change on database failed.
    write connect user/password to secstore
    connect user written to SecStore: sapsa
    connect user password written to SecStore rc (0)

  • After the error, sybctrl changed the password in the target ASE server, but failed in the secure store.

For Linux - sybctrl version 015:

  • SAP kernel 742 (742_REL)
  • SAP DBSL shared library version 742.06
  • compiled on Linux GNU SLES-11 x86_64 cc4.3.4 use-pr160422 for linuxx86_64
