2395461 - Msg 17157, Level 16, State 1 command is not allowed in current server state (UNKNOWN : INACTIVE) - SRS

Symptom

  • Attempting to force standby ASE server of HADR returns the following error:
    1> sp_hadr_admin standby, force
    2> go
      Msg 17157 , Level 16, State 1: Server 'REPSITEB', Procedure 'sp_hadrvrfyargs', Line 174: 'sp_hadr_admin standby' command is not allowed in current server state (UNKNOWN : INACTIVE).
    (return status = 1)
    1> select hadr_state = hadr_state(), hadr_mode = hadr_mode()
    2> go
     hadr_state                                    hadr_mode  
    ------------------------------ ------------------------------
     Inactive                                         Starting 
    (1 row affected) 
  • The  Primary ASE is in active state.
