• How can I populate fields on the application from the Candidate Profile?

When using the same field ID and configuration on both the Application XML and Candidate Profile XML you can pre-populate application data from the Candidate Profile.
This is called the Candidate Snapshot, and is taken when the Recruiting user accesses/views the application for the first time (Providing that they are using the same field ID and configuration on both the Application XML and Candidate Profile XML).

NOTE: When using Edit Candidate Snapshot, updating a field under More Information will update both the Application and Candidate Profile with the edit, regardless of write permissions that the operator may have for the field on the application.

• Is the Candidate Profile updated by any change in the Candidate Application? Are they synchronized?

They are Synchronized, but the updates happen when:

1. From Candidate Profile to application: When the candidate applies for the first time to a job, the current profile info will be transferred to the application, and any further changes on profile after the recruiter has viewed the application will not reflect on Applications already made. Any changes made to the candidate profile between the time of applying and the time a recruiter user views the application for the first time WILL be reflected in the application. Only standard fields (except country field) is being sync to application during generation of candidate snapshot.
2. From Application to Candidate Profile: Data syncs from the Application back to the Candidate Profile will happen at any time if it is changed on the Application; the system assumes the most recent updates should always be fed back to the Candidate Profile. This behavior is the same when an application is saved before being submitted, where updates to the candidate profile will not populate to a saved application.

NOTE:

• Recruiters and candidates must have write permissions to the field in order for values to sync back to the candidate profile.
• An exception to this is the country field, due to it's dependency on DPCS, Candidate Search, and Purge this is not synced.

• Is it possible to update the candidates personal or background information in an Application on a Job Requisition from the Candidate Profile?

It is not, if you check the above 2.A., this happens in one direction only. Even when multi-stage application is enabled, candidates cannot update their application by updating the information on their profile once the application is submitted and viewed by the recruiter.

NOTE: Forwarded candidates via Forwarded As Applicant or Forwarded to Requisition, regardless of status forwared to, are not subject to the Candidate to Application Sync. Only standard fields if configured in the candidate and application template will appear in the Application. If an applicant is forwarded the forward-intact attribute will take affect from the point of the first application the candidate applies to via the UI.
