Symptom
- What characters can be used in username and user IDs?
- Are there any restrictions to the characters we can use for Username & user ID?
- Is there a list of valid characters or symbols when defining Username's and UserIDs in SuccessFactors?
- Will the letter "ñ" appear in the system if you will import a userdata file containing the leter "ñ" in the USERID and USERNAME field?

- Successfactors Employee Profile/ Employee Central
Resolution
Currently, Successfactors does not support non alphanumeric characters for username and any other characters for username.
The list of supported characters are : a-z, -, _, ., @, !, ~, #, $, %,^, &, *, +, ?, |,', 0-9
For Employee Import/Basic Import:
UserId only support 4 special characters: _ - @ .
UserId doesn't support these special characters: ! # $ % ^ & * () + = { [ } ] | \ : ; ”’ < , > ? / ~ ` or § or ñ or é
Username support these special characters: ! @ # $ % & * _ - + . ? ~ `
Username doesn't support these special characters: ( ) ^ = { [ } ] | \ : ; ” ’ < , > / or § or ñ or é
For Manage Users UI:
- (Username can only be alphanumeric and special characters among _ - @ . )
- Username/UserID: both only support 4 special characters: _ - @ .
