2400404 - Error "Value not legal for this attribute" when modifying an attribute which has no legal values set

Symptom

  • You have an attribute in your identity store schema, which is not configured any legal values on tab Attribute Values.
  • When modifying this attribute value by some job or Identity Management User Interface(IDM web UI), error "Value not legal for this attribute" happens. For example, following message may be in job log:
     
    Exception from Modify operation:com.sap.idm.ic.ToPassException: ToIDStore.modEntry failed modifying entry '<user mskeyvalue>'. IDStore returned error message: " Value not legal for this attribute:Attribute: <attribute name>" when storing attribute '<attribute name>=<the value you want to change to>'
