2402288 - DDE Calls Hang Windows 10 VM - SAP PB

Symptom

  • DDE calls like OpenChannel("WINWORD", "System")and ExecRemote are not functioning when running SAP PB 12.6 on a Windows 10 (64-bit) VM.
  • The  SAP PowerBuilder IDE and applications hang on the calls and needs to be shut down via Task Manager.
  • Before shutting the application down, if you view the details for the PB12.6.exe process and select "Analyze wait chain". you will see that PowerBuilder is waiting on "splwow64.exe".
  • Other applications that use 'splwow64.exe' appear to be interfering with the PB 12.6 DDE commands.
