2404907 - Goals/Objectives are missing in Goal Plan

Symptom

There are Objectives missing in Goal Plan, that were showing previously.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Goal Management

Cause

Missing Goals/Objectives in a Goal Plan may be caused by:

  1. One or more categories, under which the objectives were created, was/were removed from template, after objective creation;
  2. Category section was inserted in the Goal Plan Template for the first time.

Resolution

A category section in a Goal Plan can be added and deleted on Admin tools > Manage Templates > Open Goal Template > Edit Category: Delete Category or Add a New Category.

When using Categories to determine sections of a Goal Plan to which the objectives are allocated, it is necessary to added a default-category section in the Goal Plan Template, to avoid missing objectives in your Goal Plan.

The default-category element defines the "default" or "catch-all" category. Any objective not matching one of the explicitly defined categories is placed in this category. More information on Categories, is available in section "Defining Category and Default-Category" of the Goal Management Guide.

To recover the missing objectives in the Goal Plan, the default-category must be added in the Goal Plan Template, available in Provisioning. To complete tasks in Provisioning, contact your Implementation Partner. If you are no longer working with an Implementation Partner, contact SAP Cloud Support.

Partners & Cloud Support:

The position of the default-category element must be after the last regular category end-tag in the XML. The file will be invalid if default-category is inserted in between the category elements.

XML Example showing category and default-category:

</category>
<category id="Internal Business Operations">
<category-name>Internal Business Operations</category-name>
</category>
<default-category id="Other">
<category-name>Other</category-name>
</default-category>

NOTE: It is not recommended to delete/edit the category after Goals are created under the given category.
