Symptom
- You need to edit msgkeys within a template.
- You copy a template using msgkeys, and need to create new ones.
- You are changing the text of a template, and it changes the text for another template as well.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors HCM Core all versions
Reproducing the Issue
Copy a template that makes use of msgkeys. Edit a field with a msgkey, and see that it will update the previous template as well.
Cause
You have copied a PM template that makes use of message keys within the configuration.
Resolution
Go to Admin Center > Manage Templates and navigate to the PM template which you wish to edit the msgkeys on.
In the section you wish to add or edit, click the "Add More+" link underneath.
From this menu, you are able to edit the msgkeys to be unique to this template. In order to make this change, simply change the "Element Key" at the top of this menu to be a unique value to the instance.
Once the value has been changed, a "Check" link will appear next to it to verify if this is a unique key.
The system will then prompt if you want to "Please click here to use this key" if it is a unique value. That will create a new key, allowing you to edit the descriptions without changing other templates.
Note: You are only able to edit these on templates that already have msgkeys configured. Please see a partner or Professional Services if you wish to configure new message keys in a new template.
