2408867 - Known issues with charts moved using Excel's option

Symptom

After creating a chart in Analysis for Office and moving it using the Excel's option (e.g. via context menu), the user is experiencing an issue with the chart.
Some of the issues are:

  1. The data in chart is not refreshing according to the new variable values or other filters provided;
  2. The chart is not being adjusted (e.g. range, size) according to the new variable values or other filters provided, but remains static instead;
  3. Exception in Analysis for Office;

Environment

SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Insert a chart in Analysis for Office workbook using its own functionality (i.e. "Analysis" ribbon > "Insert" group > Chart);
  2. Move the chart using the Excel's functionality  (i.e. Option "Move Chart" in chart's context menu);

Cause

When moving an Analysis chart to a new worksheet via the Excel's context menu on the chart, Analysis Office will lose the connection to the chart in the next refresh.

Resolution

In order to move charts created by Analysis Office, it is necessary to use its own functionality:

  1. Make sure there is an available worksheet to move the chart;
  2. Open the Design Panel;
  3. Click on the Components tab;
  4. Open the context menu in the chart;
  5. Click on "Move To" and select a new worksheet like shown below:
