2411228 - BI system is not accessible while CMS is running but other servers cannot be started

Symptom

  • Unable to log into BI system anywhere
  • CMS process is running at the OS level but other servers cannot be started
  • Errors below in CMS logs:
    Central Management Server started
    Server cms_<hostname>.CentralManagementServer Name Service Port Published Addresses: <hostname>:6400. Listening on port(s): <ipaddress>:6400. Failed to listen on port(s): <hostname>:6400
    Server cms_<hostname>.CentralManagementServer Request Port Failed to listen on port(s): <ipaddress>:6400, <hostname>:6400
    SAP BusinessObjects BI platform CMS: Successfully established all 14 connections to CMS system database fatal: Read from socket failed: Connection reset by peer
    Transport error: Communication failure.(FWM 00001)
  • Errors below in OS logs(Windows event logs or Linux message logs):
    Creating session manager...
    Logging onto CMS...
    Error: Could not log on to CMS (STU00152)
    Error description: The system <hostname> can be contacted, but there is no Central Management Server running at port xxxx
    Assert failure: (oscafactory.cpp:1422). (false : OSCAPortListener::unblock: Fail to unblock listening due to connect failure
