2414244 - How to Delete Background Element Data

Symptom

This article shows on how to delete all data in a specific Background Element.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Profile and People Profile

Reproducing the Issue

Via Employee Profile / People Profile

> Go to Employee's Employee Profile -> Go to the Portlet / Block

Sample Portlet/Block: Internam Committe Assignment, Project and Taskforce

Via Export Extended User Information CSV File

> Go to Export Extended User Information -> Select Background Information -> Export Extended Data only

> Open generated file -> Search for the Background Element you want to clear out the data.

Resolution

1. Admin center->Go to Export Extended User Information -> Select Background Information -> Export Extended Data only

** Note: Save the generated file as a Back-up

2.  Admin center->Go to Export Extended User Information -> Select Background Information -> Export Template

2.1) Get the header file of the Background Element that you want to delete the data

Sample: ^UserId,leadExperienceSecond,role,section,description,years,years2

2.2) Save the header file to a csv file without any data.

3.  Admin center->Import Extended User Information -> Import the CSV Created in Step-2.

Configurations:

Type: Background Information

Additional File Option: Import by overwritting existing data

Validate if the Import was successful by Exporting the Extended User Information or by checking the portlet in Employee Profile/ People Profile

 Summary of the solution steps:

1. Admin center->Go to Export Extended User Information -> Select Background Information -> Export Extended Data only.
2. Admin center->Go to Export Extended User Information -> Select Background Information -> Export Template.
3. Get the header file of the Background Element that you want to delete the data.
4. Copy it in a blank .csv file wihout any data.
5. Admin center->Import Extended User Information > select option " Import by overwritting existing data" > Import the CSV Created in above step.

Warning: This will delete backgaround information selected for all users in the instance except for invalid users.
