2416382 - SCORM 2004 content completing if user closes the course screen before it loads completely

Symptom

SCORM 2004 (2nd or 4th edition) is sending completion upon closing out of the course content before it has fully loaded. The item has been marked as complete without the user taking the content.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Launch the course.
  2. Before it loads completely (when you see a message like "Please wait: establishing an iContent Session..." or "Please wait until Navigation Request is processed..."), close the course using the browser exit options such as for the browser or tab.

  1. After accessing the content via the user or admin side, the content will be shown as completed.

Cause

The completion is set by the LMS Sequencing Engine and unique to SCORM 2004 standard. SCORM 1.2/AICC is not impacted by this.

Resolution

This issue can be controlled in the content manifest file using the rules below:

  • Set Completion Set By Content and Object Set by Content to ‘True’

When DeliveryControls “CompletionSetbyContent” and “ObjectiveSetbyContent” are set to ‘false’, the SCORM 2004 standard assumes that the content is non-communicating.  SuccessFactors Learning will mark the content complete on launch.
