2418671 - Difference Between Last Used And Last Put-Away Strategy

Symptom

You want to know the difference between Last Used And Last Put-Away strategy to better design your logistics processes.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Cause

The main difference between the two is that the Last Used strategy is not a stand alone strategy. It is a part of the Material Driven strategy. Last Put-Away is an independent strategy.

In Material Driven strategy, the system will first try to identify a logistics area by using the Fixed Bin strategy, if it does not find any logistics area via this strategy the system will then try the Last Used strategy if it is not able to identify any logistics area via this strategy then it will use the Empty Bin strategy to identify the logistics area.

  • Last Used Strategy searches the current stock in the inventory and finds out if there is any stock which has stock with the same stock separators (Identified Stock, Product Specification etc) in the inventory. There is no particular order in which the logistics areas which are used for the product is fetched.

The Last Put-Away strategy always identifies the latest logistics area in which the stock was placed by the system.

  • Last Put-Away reads the confirmation data of the last five putaway confirmations to find out the last/latest Logistics Area in which put way was done for the relevant product.
