2424197 - Time Off Requests for Overlapping Time Accounts are Split Across Years

Leave requests are being booked and split across Time Accounts with overlapping bookable period when Time Account Type is configured as follows:

• Posting Order: Oldest Account First
• Simulation Accruals: Yes
• Balance Cannot fall below: any negative amount

This is working as designed with respect to the time account type configuration and with the time account allocation strategy system design.

Time Account Allocation Strategy Behavior

Time account deduction is only executed when a leave request is created or edited.

• Deductions are based on the time account postings (accruals, leaves , manual adjustments etc.) that are in the system at this point in time
• Postings on a time account that are created at a later point in time are not leading to a recalculation of prior account deductions. As a consequence, a user viewing an employee’s account postings at a later point in time may get a misleading picture of how they were created.

There is an allocation strategy built into the system that will do the account deductions based on hard-coded steps, taking the Time Account Type configuration into account.

• User is creating or editing a leave request, for which a certain number of days needs to be deducted from the time accounts.
• System will start deducting this number of days from all available positive balances, including simulated accruals that will be available by the start date of the leave request, before going into negative balances.
• Deductions are allocated to the bookable time accounts relevant for the leave request, based on two criteria:

 

• Within the period of the leave request, deductions are allocated to the days in reverse order. So deductions will always start from the end date of a leave request, and proceed backwards to the start date.
• On a day when the available balance plus simulated accruals for a particular time account reaches 0, the deductions will be split, either between this time account and the next time account in sequence that has a positive balance, or this time account and the next time account in sequence whose Time Account Type allows the balance to go into the negative. In the latter case, this may be one and the same time account, but there will still be two bookings for the day when the balance reaches 0.
