2424329 - UK: Change on deep validation of social security number NINO number

Symptom

As of the Q1 2017 release, there is changes on deep validation for UK National ID NINO number

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors - Employee Central

Cause

The validation of the National ID for UK, the NINO number needs to be changed, due to a legal change. This is necessary to report the correct NINO number in payroll reports to HMRC (governmental organ in UK) and reports to employees.

Resolution

Current Format for NINO number : AA NN NN NN A

  • Must be 9 characters. 
  • First 2 characters must be alpha. 
  • First character must not be D, F, I, Q, U or V 
  • Second characters must not be D, F, I, O, Q, U or V.
  • Prefixes BG, GB, KN, NK, NT, TN and ZZ are not to be used.
  • Next 6 characters must be numeric. 
  • Final character must be A, B, C or D.

This list has now been changed in a way that KC and CK from now on will also be allowed as Prefix. The rest of the Prefix validation stays unchanged.
