Symptom
You are working on the time file of an employee, and notice that times such as special leaves are not getting carried forward to the following recurrence period, even if the time account is configured with a Carry Forward rule.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Time Administration work center.
- Enter the Employees view.
- Search for Employee XYZ (where XYZ represents the Employee ID).
- Click on the Edit button.
- Navigate to the Time Account Balances tab.
Here you can see that a new recurrence period already started (hence a new time account was created), however the balance of the previous period is not getting carried forward to the new account.
Cause
The balance shown in the time accounts is affected by the Posting Type set in the Time Account rules:
- If the posting type of the time is set as Entitlement, the time account balance is shown until the validity end date of the current account for time accounts of type Recurrent, and until the end of the current year for time accounts of type Permanent.
- If the posting type of the time is set as Accrual, the time account balance is shown as of the current date.
Resolution
The system works as expected.
