2430251 - Error MSIS7046 shows up at ADFS side when using SAML 2.0 logon to an ABAP system with Safari browser

Symptom

The following message shows up on SAML 2.0 Identity Provider(ADFS) side when using Safari browser:

ERROR :  “MSIS7046: The SAML protocol parameter 'RelayState' was not found or not valid. If the context was stored in cookies, the cookies that were presented by the client were not valid. Ensure that the client browser is configured to accept cookies from this website and retry this request.”

In a NetWeaver ABAP system where SAML 2.0 authentication is used.

  • SAP Netweaver AS ABAP 7.02
  • SAP Netweaver AS ABAP 7.30
  • SAP Netweaver AS ABAP 7.31
  • SAP Netweaver AS ABAP 7.40
  • SAP Netweaver AS ABAP 7.50 and higher

ADFS and browser Safari are used.
