Is Introscope 9.7.1 installed on HP-UX for Solution Manager supported by SAP?

Reproducing the Issue

In SAP Note - 2138309, SAP mention in the section Major Changes in Introscope 9.7 (Focus SAP Solution Manager):

"CA informed that they are discontinuing support for CA Introscope Enterprise Manager on Itanium and HP-UX platforms."

Cause

In light of this, you would like to know if you can install the OS-independent installer for HP-Unix operating system and if SAP will support it in case of any issues?

Resolution

The statement in the SAP Note means CA does not deliver an EM installer with a bundled JVM for these platforms and does not test it there.

You can run a JAVA program on any platform as long the JVM fits.

So in this instance the ‘OS independent’ installer can be used.

For installing Introscope 9.7.1 on HP-UX we would recommend that you use the SAPJVM7
