Symptom
- What does the custom option mean in the competency section?
- How do I select competencies to be included in this section?
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Performance and Goals
Reproducing the Issue
- When setting up a Competency section in a performance form via Manage Templates, there is a checkbox labeled "Custom"
- Select this option and notice there are "No competencies available"
Resolution
What does the custom option mean in the competency section?
- Custom competencies are competencies hardcoded into a template
- Unlike Job specific competencies, custom competencies will appear on the form for every user
- Unlike Core competencies, custom competencies can be specific to the template
- With Core, every template that selects Core competencies will pull the same competencies
Selecting competencies to be included in this section
- Go to Manage Templates and select a template
- Edit Fields and Sections > Competency field
- Check the "Custom" Box
- Select "Show advanced options..." and scroll down to the bottom
- Choose "0 Custom Competency defined. Click to modify."
- Select which competencies to include
- Once selected, the custom competencies will be listed
- These competencies will populate on all newly launched forms from this template
Note: In case of 360 forms, You can only add custom competencies via XML configuration of your template. This functionality isn’t currently available using Manage Templates in Admin Center. After you add custom competencies, the Custom checkbox, which is grayed out in your template, will be checked automatically. Reference XML is provided in Custom Competencies | SAP Help Portal.
