Resolution
Business rules only work for HRIS elements and MDF. EP elements like standard and background elements, business rules are not supported for these elements
Cross portlet rule is a rule which can update/create/delete a field/row in another portlet/entity. For example, when I change some field values in Job information, I want to add a new recurring pay component for the user.
NOTE:
- Currently cross portlet rules are only supported for Employment Entities which includes Job information, Compensation Information, Pay component Recurring, Pay Component Non Recurring, Job Relationships and Employment Details.
- Cross portlets rules trigger in MSS UI(Take action) and History, but not in New Hire. Please note onSave Rules are supported and that there are still some constraints as to what the cross portlet rules can do, with regards to the business rule configuration and the Base object chosen.
- If the source entity is modified in the UI, API, or in an import, then onSave rules for cross-entity rules are supported.
- Support for onchange cross portlets is introduced for a limited functionality. It works for Job information, Compensation Information and Pay component Recurring when both Job Information and Compensation Information Change checkboxes are selected in MSS UI(Take action), Cross-entity onChange rules are not supported in APIs or imports.
- There is no direct relationship between Pay component Recurring and Pay Component Non Recurring. This is a system limitation wherein business rule cannot directly control these two entities which falls under the same portlet. If this is a business requirement, you may raise an enchancement request by following the KBA 2090228 - How to submit enhancement requests for SAP SuccessFactors products.
- For cross portlet rules, the use of a second parameter is not permitted.
