2437812 - Error Messages AA389 / AA390 During Asset Posting

Symptom

Postings in Asset Accounting fail with one of the following error messages:

  • AA389 – Transaction type &1 not possible (no affiliated company specified)
  • AA390 – Transaction type &1 not possible (posting to affiliated company)
  • AAPO176 – Transaction type &1 cannot be used for activity &2

The issue may occur in various transactions, for example:

  • F-90 (Acquisition)
  • F-92 (Retirement)
  • ABT1N (Intercompany Transfer)
  • ABAON (Retirement with revenue)
  • MIGO / MIRO / VL02N (Logistics integration)
  • Down payment postings

Summary

The errors AA389 and AA390 are caused by inconsistencies between transaction type settings and trading partner data.

In most cases, the issue can be resolved by:

  • Aligning transaction type and trading partner usage
  • Verifying document type settings
  • Checking substitution logic in New Asset Accounting
  • Reviewing integration scenarios and system configuration
