2438776 - Variable Pay - Background Section Definition for Employee Central integrated templates. recordType.

Symptom

From the UI we can set a Variable Pay template to be integrated with Employee Central, but it is necessary to modify the Background Section that will be used so it can be correctly applied and it is able to process the Employee History import from Employee Central.

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Resolution

As we are planning to run the ECT Processor job to import the history from Employee Central, apart from the necessary startDate, endDate, varPayProgramName and basis fields we need to include the field recordType. This field can only be mapped to vfld15 (and vfld15 can only be used for recordType, mapping any other field to it would result in errors) and is used by the system to identify if a record is being imported from Employee Central or if it is imported manually. This field is not visible in the EC History Field Mapping screen but we can see it when reviewing the history records. Record Type field will show the values "Employee Central" or "Imported" depending on the source of the records.
