2438892 - EEM Notification service (ai_eem_bulk_notification) in robots fail with 'Read timed out'

Symptom

The EEM alerts are not being generated anymore and the robots log 'eem.log' shows the following error:

[Thread[EEM WsNotifyQueue,5,main]] Error      com.sap.smd.eem.executor.wsnotify.WsNotifier.doNotification notification call failed for URL http://<solman_host>:<icm_port>/sap/bc/srt/scs/sap/ai_eem_bulk_notification?sap-client=600 (user: <user_name>) [EXCEPTION]
java.rmi.RemoteException: Service call exception; nested exception is:
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out (local port <XXXXX> to address <XXXXX>, remote port <XXXXX> to address <XXXXX>)
Caused by: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out (local port <XXXXX> to address <XXXXX>, remote port <XXXXX> to address <XXXXX>)

The above error leads to an increasing number of backlog files (called *.ser) in the following path of the EEM Robot (Diagnostics Agents):

  • <SMDAGENT_INSTANCE_ PATH>/SMDAgent/temp/eem/wsnotify/*.ser
