2438967 - Workforce Analytics - calculated rate abnormally high (e.g. > 100%)

Symptom

For certain categories in the structure and analysis options, a calculated rate in WFA (e.g. Termination Rate) is abnormally high, possibly much greater than 100%.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics

Cause

Calculated measures like Termination Rate often use Average Headcount measures as their denominator.  If an area has been empty for most of a reporting period then its EOP headcount might be a positive integer but its average headcount could be less than one.  If there has been even one termination, the correct termination rate may well be a positive integer divided by a fraction, to equal greater than one or 100%.

If there is one termination for an area with an average headcount of 0.2, for example, the termination rate for the area will be 1 / 0.2 = 5 = 500%.

Resolution

To prevent the calculation taking into account long periods where an area was empty, try viewing the results by quarter or month instead of year.  That said, results like these might look strange but are usually correct according to the specified calculation.
