2438976 - Payment Information: "Sorry, you should provide the main payment method" when adding second record

Symptom

Customer gets the error message "Sorry, you should provide the main payment method" when adding second Payment Information record. The first record already has Main Payment Method for the field Pay Type.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to a user's Personal Information > Payment Information.
  2. If the user does not have a Payment Information record already, enter a record.
  3. The system will make sure that you have selected Main Payment Method for Pay Type field.
  4. Enter other field values and Save the record.
  5. Navigate to History of Payment Information of the user and select Insert New Record.
  6. Effective date should be same as the first record.
  7. Select any other value than Main Payment Method for Pay Type field.
  8. Enter other field values and Save the record.
  9. You get the error message "Sorry, you should provide the main payment method".

Cause

Main payment method is required for all the time slices in Payment Information portlet.

Resolution

If you want to add an additional Pay Type other than Main Payment Method, it should be done by clicking on Edit (pencil icon beside Payment Information) and then by clicking on Add Details link. Whenever you click on Add New Record, there should be at least one entry for the time slice with Main Payment Method in the field Pay Type.
