2438984 - SAP Web IDE won't run or extend an imported application

Symptom

After importing an application from an SAPUI5 ABAP Repository, the application will not run as a webapp or cannot be extended, with one of these errors:

  • 'There must be at least one XML view with its matching controller to create an extension project.'
  • 'Could not find the root Component.js file in the selected folder.'
  • Application selected successfully, but a blank extensibility preview after confirmation
