2439933 - Manual Overall Performance Ratings are Unrated in Ad Hoc and Classic Reporting - Performance Management

Symptom

Overall Rating is showing as unrated for PMv12 and PMv12A forms in Adhoc and other legacy reporting tools.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure form with a Performance-Potential Summary Section
  2. In that section, set perf-manual-rating="false"
  3. configure summary section to have manual overall ratings (manual-rating="true")
  4. launch forms and score the summary section manually
  5. run an ad hoc report and include manual overall rating as a column -- it will show "unrated"

Cause

The form is working as designed. According to the PMv12A Implementation Guide:

"When a form is configured with both a perfpot-summary-sect and a summary-sect, if both sections have overall performance scores, the perfpot-summary-sect overall performance score is used as the rating of record. If both sections have the same rating scales and both are configured with manual performance ratings, changes to the manual overall performance score in one section update the value in the other section."

  • Table 57, Page 213

The issue happens when the summary section is configured for manual rating, but the performance-potential section isn't (or vice versa). The presence of the performance-potential section makes it the de facto rating of record, and will override the values in the summary section, and any ratings in the summary section will not be updated into the performance-potential section. This results in "unrated" ratings in the database table used by ad hoc reporting and other classic reporting tools.

Resolution

To avoid this problem, the summary section and performance-potential sections should have:

  • the same rating scales
  • the same manual rating setting

You can configure both sections for manual rating via the Manage Templates tool in Admin Center:

  1. In Admin Center, look for Performance Management > Manage Templates
  2. Select Performance Review
  3. Open the affected template
  4. Click on Edit Fields and Sections
  5. Go to Summary
  6. Click on Show advanced options...
  7. Check Allow manual rating
  8. Click on the Performance Potential section
  9. Click on Show advanced options...
  10. Check Allow overall performance rating to be edited
  11. Save
  12. Relaunch forms

Note: Live form data cannot be corrected. You must relaunch forms in order to see correct behavior.
