2440032 - System triggers error "Serial ID XXX not valid" when maintaining Serial Numbers.

While maintaining Serial Number for a Product at the time of Post Goods Issue, system triggers errors.

     Modification not permitted
 --->Serial id XXX not valid

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Outbound Logistics Work center.
2. Go to Delivery Proposals View.
3. Search for Delivery Request ID ABC (ABC refers to Delivery Request ID)
4. Select Post Goods Issue.
5. Select a Product and Under Details: Item maintain a Serial Number  
6. System throws error as below:

              Modification not permitted
          --->Serial id XXX not valid

The error is caused due to the special characters entered at the time of maintaining Serial Numbers for a Product.

Serial Numbers are designed in a such a way that it cannot contain Special Characters.It can contain as follows

1. Serial Numbers can be Numeric.
2. Serial Numbers can also be Alpha Numeric.
