2440113 - Error message 'The open quantity differs from the sum of serial number assignments' appears during Post Goods Issue.

System throws the following error messages when proposing quantities during Post Goods Issue.

         Action failed
-----> Proposed quantity not possible. The open quantity differs from the sum of serial number assignments.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Outbound Logistics Work Center.
2. Navigate to Delivery Proposals View.
3. Search for Delivery Request ID PQR (PQR represents the ID of the Delivery Request).
4. Select Post Goods Issue.
5. Select Propose Quantities.

Error messages appear:

         Action failed
-----> Proposed quantity not possible. The open quantity differs from the sum of serial number assignments.

The errors occurred because the material involved in the Delivery have the Serial Number Profile set as Mandatory.

In order to correct the error we will have to maintain the serial numbers at the time of Post Goods Issue.

1) Creating Serial Numbers or Registered Product by following the steps below.

1. Go to Outbound Logistics Work Center.
2. In Common tasks navigate to New Registered Product.
3. Maintain the Registered Product ID and Product which needs to be assigned.
4. Select Save.
5. Change the Status to Active.
6. Select Save and Close.

2) Assigning Serial Numbers at the time of Post Goods Issue.

1. Go to Outbound Logistics Work Center.
2. Go to Delivery Proposals View.
3. Search for Delivery Request ID PQR.
4. Select Post Goods Issue.
5. Now maintain the registered Product or Serial Number in Next Serial Number.
6. Select Propose quantities.

This should solve the issue.
